Takeo Hanazawa – SPACE IS THE PLACE

GALLERY SIDE 2 is please to announce Takeo Hanzawa’s 9th solo exhibition with us since his first in 2007.

Takeo Hanazawa has been incorporating things around him in everyday life, people, music, books that he respects in his work. The title SPACE IS THE PLACE is the album title of Sun Ra, who expanded the space for free jazz, funkadelic and music in many places. Hanazawa layers this with Shiki Masaoka (a poet and literary critic 1867-1902) ‘s garden in the exhibition. Masaoka was suffering from tuberculosis and he found solace in the view of the garden from his bed. It was a space that his mind can freely move through time and space. Hanazawa continues his search on our place, where we stand, meaning of our roots, through these 2 inspirations. The exhibition consists of paintings, prints and sculptures.
